Different applications require different waterproof levels:

Rating	mmH₂O	Application
Basic	1,500–3,000	Daily raincoats
Standard	3,000–5,000	outdoor leisure rainwear
High	5,000–8,000	fishing & industrial rainwear
Ultra	8,000+	extreme heavy rain environments

For industrial, fishing and mining rainwear, PVC coated fabrics with waterproof rating above 5,000mm are highly recommended.
